The room was beautiful and perfectly clean, the reception staff were friendly and efficient.
The restaurant staff are very slow, and have been every time we have visited. The food was excellent but as a vegetarian who has visited Dakota 3 times already this year I find the lack of vegetarian dishes boring.
Since changing to a Holiday Inn from the Dakota, most of the touches that made the Dakota so enjoyable and stylish have been retained. Well designed and rooms are excellent, restaurant remains top notch. Magnificent for the price.
A few of the Dakota touches have disappeared - small things but as I stayed here a few times under the old branding I notice. I'm sure other guests on a first time visit would not! So, the bar no longer offers its magnificent cocktails, quite why when all the wherewithal to make them is still displayed behind the bar is anyone's guess. Bring them back Holiday Inn people - we spent less time in the bar as a consequence! In room television channels seem to have reduced and I missed the hand cooked breakfast of yore, now a pretty standard (but still nice!) buffet arrangement.
The reception area was amazing, with the open fire and all the nice little rooms were u cud have a drink a chat. Rooms very nice and posh, bed was very comfy.
Wish Breakfast was included when your spening £90plus on a room.
Bed was so hard I was unable to sleep, Room Temperature was unbearably hot and heating system came on overnight and was so noisy it woke us each time.
A beautiful luxury hotel with everything you could wish for, in particular the staff on site were fantastic. Especially Jimmy the night porter, that guy will cut off his arm for you if you asked him.
We did not like having to go home...
Iv used Dakota a few times before, and i find it one of the smartest within reach of mansfield. I like everything apart from the lighter wallet when I leave. :)
The food at the Dakota was excellent & rooms were cosy, inviting & clean
Kept bumping our legs on the surround of the bed. Quilt could have been fuller & no information in the room regarding breakfast times or facilities in hotel.was let down by staff at restaurant after asking them not to present a bill for dinner but to add to our room as we wanted to pay for our guests however without our knowledge one of our guests paid the bill
we thought the hotel was very clean, hotel staff very pleasant. we stayed on a saturday night and it was very quiet. overall rating 8/10
The only thing i was disapointed with was that it was our wedding night and thought a hotel of this standard may make more of an effort to congratulate us on our special day
I like the contempory building design, layout of the hotel. It has a nice warm feeling about it. It is not like a dare I say a Holiday Inn where you could be in any part of the country or world. I have no issue with Holiday Inn as this hotel group also offer an excellent product and service.
Restaurant and bar staff were a little sleepy
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and decently furnished. The restaurant provides good quality food and service - even if the prices are somewhat inflated! I was surprised that such a good airport hotel had so few clients staying.
The gym facilities are poor. One cycling machine was out of order (as it had been the previous time I stayed). In fact, most of the machines are past their best! Although some websites mention "room service" - there doesn't appear to be any. There was no "hotel directory" in the room - so what services they might offer were not easily accessed. Having stayed there before in a standard room, I really couldn't see any difference between it and an executive room, - apart from the price. The single window in the room was difficult to open because there was a large desk in front of it. One of the window-latches was broken. There is no provision of rooms for clients who wish to smoke.
The room design and staff
It was a very posh looking hotel, very clean with a relaxing ambience
My room was a little chilly, and it wud be nice if breakfast was included in the price
I thought the room was well appointed with a good shower
There was only one out of two lifts working & the food was served on a chopping board also the portion of chips was a bit on the small side the recption staff were less than friendly and very slow at check out time
Handy for the M1. Quiet.
Only 1 lift was working during my stay. Breakfast was ok but no porridge and floor was covered trodden in food. Short and fairly early breakfast hours. Breakfast staff seemed busy and uninterested in peoples needs. No free bottled water in the room. Limited TV stations. Felt like a Business only hotel to me really, not a family hotel.
Hotel was excellent and evening dinner, taken in the restaurant, was very good. A perfect stay close to the M6 just outside Mansfield
A minor quibble only but not a lot of space for hanging clothes in our designer bedroom. This negative should not detract from an excellent stay however.
